Two Icons: Britney Spears and Sir Elton John Team Up For a Rendition of His Hit Single “Tiny Dancer”

Our favorite Princess of Pop is finally making her comeback by collaborating with English singer and composer Sir Elton John in an iconic way on a new version of his 1972 single “Tiny Dancer.” The single is being produced by Andrew Watt, who has previously worked with everyone from Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Pearl Jam and Ozzy Osbourne. It is said to be releasing next month by Universal Music. Spears and John met in secret at a Beverly Hills recording studio last week to start recording the new single of his beloved 1971 classic. “Tiny Dancer” was written by John and Bernie Taupin. The hit single was originally released on his 1971 album, “Madman Across the Water,” and then as a single in 1972. It was ranked as No. 47 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2021. John is ready to hang up his touring shoes now as he continues on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. The tour first kicked off in 2018 and is finally slated to finally wrap in July 2023.

Spears has been hinting she is ready to get back to work after she was freed from her 13-year conservatorship which was terminated back in November. After her shocking testimony last summer, she retained her own lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, who helped her get out of the legal nightmare within the matter of a couple of months. Spear’s father, Jamie Spears, who oversaw the conservatorship and her finances, was finally suspended by the court in September, 2021. Afterwards, her conservatorship was terminated altogether in November. However, the legal battle continues to be messy with Spears fighting against her father and former business manager Lou M. Taylor, owner of Tri Star Sports & Entertainment, over her finances and allegations of abusive behavior and unethical dealings throughout the conservatorship. She has previously teased to use a different or more adult version of her 1998 breakout single “Hit Me Baby One More Time” in a video on Instagram by singing it in a lower register, revealing that she’s been campaigning for years to re-record said single, which she wasn’t able to do during her conservatorship. This will be the Grammy winner’s first official single since 2016’s “Slumber Party,” which followed “Make Me”, “Private Show,” “Clumsy,” and “Do You Wanna Come Over?” all appearing on her album Glory.

While she was under her conservatorship from 2008 through 2021, Spears has recorded new music and albums, went on tour and held a Las Vegas residency altogether. However, when she testified back in July, she stated to the Court that she was forced to work against her own will. Spears wrote in an Instagram post recently “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time… may be too long“. Fans are overjoyed and have been wondering when the pop star will return to the studio and start singing again. This has come as a welcome surprise to all of us Britney fans and we certainly can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. With Britney she can always keep us guessing. Look out for the new single which will be released in August.
