We are getting closer and closer to one of the most anticipated live-action adaptations from Disney, The Little Mermaid. In typical Disney fashion for their 100th anniversary, they and Halle Bailey have shared a new look at the movie which you can see below. This May, Disney is inviting us to become a part of Ariel’s world once more in a live action remake. Disney also leaves nothing to chance and has released this 100 days prior to its release going hand in hand with their 100th anniversary. In this longer trailer we hear the beautiful melodic voice of Ariel (Bailey) singing “Part of Your World” and showing a bit more of the underwater scenery. We see see her on that rock and swimming around in her cave, coming up out of the water following Prince Eric’s boat. In a quick 30 second clip we get to see more of the mermaids, Eric(Jonah Hauer-King) and Ariel’s infamous “Kiss The Girl” scene and ending off with a glimpse of Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) and her evil laugh.

What will the film be about?
There has been many versions for this beloved tale but this will be the first that will take completely from the original. This version from the visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall in this live-action reimagining of the studio’s Oscar-winning animated musical classic from 1989. The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life and her father’s crown in jeopardy.

Who else will be starring in it?
The film will also have included in it’s cast Jude Akuwudike as Grimsby, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Awkwafina as Scuttle. Lorena Andrea and Kasja Mohammar will be playing Perla and Karina, respectively, two characters that were created specifically for this version of the story. Additional cast includes Simone Ashley, Noma Dumezwani, Russell Balogh, Jessica Alexander, Adrian Christopher, and Emily Coates.
