What will this season be about?

Last season seemed to end with a betrayal between the patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) who had betrayed his children  Kendall, Shiv and Roman (Kieran Culkin). By going behind their backs and secretly selling  Waystar Royco. Their very own family firm. In the midst of it all his children have been all trying to kill each other to gain the company. Typical family squabbles no less. In the very last scene, they all learn Logan had made a deal for the company with Lukas, despite everyone trying to out best him which he mocked them for. Never go against a king, you will lose.

Now this season will start off with the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) moving even closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.

Fans are being kept in suspense as to whether this will be the last season or not. No one really knows for sure but  Armstrong told Variety he wasn’t sure how much longer the show would continue. When asked specifically how Logan blowing up the company changed the very nature of the show, Armstrong said: “It changes it. I’d be bullshitting you if I told you I knew exactly what was going to happen. We’ll follow the truth, and the business of that. I think succession in one form or another is very much still on the table.”

This answer however vague, doesn’t provide much but we can be sure to be hearing something soon from HBO. They won’t leave us dangling for too long or will they?
