What is going at DC Studios?
No one really knows what is going on at DC Studios but allegedly rumors that many things are in flux. Earlier today there was massive hysteria when Variety made a false story regarding the future of DC. Many fans took to twitter in a panic that an alleged “source” told Variety that Robert Pattinson’s Batman was going to be a part of the DCU. Gunn and Matt Reeves both took to twitter stating that this was in fact not true. Reeves will continue to have his own universe separate from the DCU unless things change. Gunn and Safran’s new leadership has many people worried.
Below please find statements made by Reeves and Gunn via twitter:
The source I’m really liking on this is Mr. @JamesGunn https://t.co/fYmy5to9A7

There are few reporters I love more than @adambvary – truly a good guy – but in this case he needs to get a new source as this is entirely untrue. https://t.co/a7cnbTfpSi

Now coming on the heels of all that, Gunn took to Twitter to announce that the new Superman will be in fact younger. Gunn stated on twitter “Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year,” the director-turned-label-chief tweeted this evening. “Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”
Ben Affleck who has donned the suit as the caped crusader previous to Pattinson has recently met with Gunn and Safran to specifically discuss the prospect of directing an upcoming DC feature. Gunn stated on his twitter tonight that they have plans for him to come back to direct. Many wanted him to return and become the DCU Batman, but unfortunately Affleck no longer wants to do that.
Below please find his tweet responding to a fan:
Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project. https://t.co/Haz1APdlVN

Just last week Wonder Woman’s director Patty Jenkins also opened up about her future with DC and said “There was nothing I could do to move anything forward”. She walked away from the project due to creative differences with the studio. She denied reports that she completely walked away from the film.

One thing is for certain they really know how to stirs things up and keep us on the edge of our seats. It is clear that Gunn and Safran want to start everything from scratch with a more younger cast. Stay tuned for more news that will be announced in the new year.
