Cameron Crovetti to Return as ‘The Boys’ Series Regular, as Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward Land Roles

Following the conclusion of Season 3 of The Boys on Amazon Prime, critics and fans were left with a large cliffhanger, as Homelander’s son, Ryan, decided to leave with him after Billy Butcher pushed him away.  While Ryan, played by Cameron Crovetti, was a small, albeit important part of the second and third seasons’ stories, it seems Season 4 will have a greater emphasis on Ryan’s journey as Crovetti has now been promoted to a series regular.  What this may entail, it is hard to say, as the character of Ryan is a completely unique addition to the show, as the original comic lacked such a character.

With this news also comes the confirmation of new cast members; Valorie Curry(The Lost Symbol) and Susan Heyward(Orange is the New Black).  Both actresses will be playing the characters of Firecracker and Sister Sage respectively.  Like Ryan, Firecracker and Sister Sage are new characters original to the show, so not much can really be determined about how exactly their roles will play out.  Although given the nature of The Boys, it’ll be more than likely Curry and Heyward will each bring a unique edge to the characters they are set to play.

Prior to her work on The Boys, Curry’s only other experience in the superhero genre was in The Tick(2016) as Dot Everest, fittingly another program created for Amazon Prime Video.  She was also known for her roles in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, The Following, and the 2018 video game Detroit: Become Human.

Heyward’s previous work in the superhero genre can be traced back to Powers, a 2015 series created by PlayStation Network, in which she played the character Deena Pilgrim, however, what many consider her breakout roles was Tamika Ward in Orange is the New Black.  Among these projects, Heyward has also starred in films like 2018’s Radium Girls, and 2017’s The Incredible Jessica James.  She also has experience on stage, playing Rose Granger-Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from 2018-2019, and Thelma in The Trip to Bountiful in 2013.

Of course, speculation has already continued as to which Supes would be appearing in the comic, from teams like Super Duper, the G-Men, and Tech Knight, a character which has been requested among fans for quite some time.  It’s also uncertain as to whether or not Curry and Heyward’s characters will fill in an entirely new role for the story, or be taking the place of a character from the comics.  This most notably happened with the character of Jack from Jupiter, who was replaced in the show with the character of Translucent.

Regardless, fans and cast members of the show alike have been quick to accept these new stars into Season 4, and have expressed excitement, and perhaps some fear, as to what shall become of Ryan this season.
