A brand-new clip from the upcoming film Supergirl reveals how Kara Zor-El arrives on Planet Earth, with a little help from Superman.
With three weeks to go until Supergirl arrives in theaters, ComicBook.com shared a clip from the DC Universe movie that shows Superman (David Corenswet) welcoming Supergirl (Milly Alcock) after she lands on Planet Earth. Check out the Supergirl clip below:
The scene begins with Superman/Kal-El opening an escape pod, revealing Kara inside as she holds her dog Krypto, who played a major role in 2025’s Superman. After the two cousins stare at each other, Superman waves and says, “Hi there.” Kara replies in Kryptonian, “Are you Kal-El?” Superman is momentarily at a loss for words and then admits he doesn’t speak Kryptonian. “I wasn’t raised there,” he explains.
As Krypto barks at Superman, Kara tells the dog to “be good.” He helps her out of the pod, and Kara spots the Fortress of Solitude in the distance. After saying that he doesn’t actually live there, Superman adds that “there’s a lot more to Earth than just this place.” Even though he’s still speaking English instead of Kryptonian, he goes on to promise that she’ll learn to love Earth as he has.
After Kara wonders why his cousin is “in his underwear,” referring to his superhero outfit, the clip ends with Superman warning her that her powers “are going to start kicking in right about now.“
In recent years, Supergirl has been played by actors like Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle. Alcock’s version of the character debuted in 2025’s Superman, the first film in the rebooted DC Universe. After Krypto served as Superman’s sidekick throughout the film, Supergirl showed up at the very end to pick up her dog.
Superman went on to gross $618.7 million at the box office and received positive reviews from critics, with a Certified Fresh score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now Supergirl is starring in her own DC film. As she turns 21, Kara and Krypto run into Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien who’s out for revenge after the death of her father, which takes the superhero all over the galaxy as they embark on a journey of vengeance.
The Supergirl cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa. I, Tonya and Cruella‘s Craig Gillespie directed the movie from a script by Ana Nogueira. James Gunn and Peter Safran are among the producers. As of this writing, Supergirl is projected to have a $55 million opening weekend at the box office, compared to $125 million for Superman.
After Supergirl, DC Studios has Clayface coming out on October 23 of this year, followed by Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow on July 9, 2027. On the small screen, Lanterns is scheduled to premiere on August 16, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
Supergirl will be released in theaters on Friday, June 26, 2026.
