Noah Wyle says The Pitt shouldn’t have a night shift spin-off. HBO Max‘s popular TV series star has now explained why.

Speaking on the A Lot More podcast, Noah Wyle (who plays Robby in the show) explained why The Pitt doesn’t need a night shift spin-off anytime soon. “I said off-handedly the other day that I think we’re getting enough night shift. And I think you want more, but you’re getting what I think is appropriate.” According to him, “I still don’t think you need more night shift. Those are great characters. It’s a wonderful energy.”
Wyle suggests the show works well as it is for now. While he didn’t necessarily rule out the idea of an expansion, he believes it is too early to have more of The Pitt. “You don’t want to bleed it off into other narratives and franchise it out, because I think you kind of dilute the potency a little bit and you get everybody overfamiliar with the arena to where it loses a little bit of its specialness.”

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Pitt are currently streaming on HBO Max. Both have received critical admiration, and the show is expected to land multiple nominations at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
Season 3 could premiere sometime in 2027 or 2028.
