Rockstar confirms GTA 6 is coming to PS5 and Xbox, but no mention of PC

Rockstar Games has released more details on GTA 6, following the early publication of the game’s reveal trailer on Monday.

According to a press release published by parent company Take-Two, GTA 6 will initially release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, but there is no mention of PC.

Both Grand Theft Auto V and IV released on consoles first, followed by a PC port later.

GTA 4 was released on PC 6 months after consoles. GTA 5 took a while longer, releasing on PC 18 months after consoles.

“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”

According to the PR, Grand Theft Auto VI will take place in the state of Leonida, “home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond” in what Take-Two is calling “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet”.

Rockstar was due to premiere its GTA 6 trailer on Tuesday. However, on Monday an anonymous X (formerly Twitter) account forced its hand by uploading a low res and heavily watermarked version of the reveal video early.

Shortly after the leak, Rockstar published an official version of the trailer, writing: “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”

One GTA 6 developer expressed their disappointment on social media, following the trailer’s leaking and early publication.

Senior gameplay animator Javier Altman wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the early publication of the much-anticipated reveal video had robbed them of plans to watch the live reaction with the rest of the development team.

“This fucking sucks,” they wrote. “I was hoping to watch this for the first time tomorrow along with my fellow teammates and coworkers. I feel we deserved that moment.”

Altman added: “I’m so proud of what we are making. Enjoy the trailer, everyone.”
