Uniqlo is reprinting its Metal Gear shirts from 2009 and 2012

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo has confirmed that it will be reprinting its Metal Gear line of t-shirts.

The company released a variety of Metal Gear shirts in 2009 and 2012, but Uniqlo’s typical policy is to only sell its licensed shirts for a set period then retire them.

However, today – to mark the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1, Uniqlo has confirmed that it will be bringing back its Metal Gear line.

A total of six shirt designs will be sold, with the current plan being to start selling them in late January.

The shirts will be released as part of the UT Archive range, in which Uniqlo reprints some of its most popular collaborative lines.

Uniqlo has yet to confirm whether these shirts will be sold outside of Japan. However, the retailer frequently sells its collaboration shirts in its global stores, including those in the UK, US, Canada and Europe.

As a Japanese retailer with an emphasis on popular culture designs, Uniqlo has frequently collaborated with video game companies for limited run shirt lines.

Previous Uniqlo collaborations have included Pokémon, Super Mario, Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, Namco, Splatoon and Street Fighter.

The vast majority of these designs have made their way to western stores shortly after their release in Japan.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 is out today for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4 and PC via Steam.

The game contains re-releases of the first three Metal Gear Solid games, as well as the original MSX2 versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, and the NES games Metal Gear and Snake’s Revenge.

It also includes further additional content, including digital graphic novels, screenplay books and master books with story and character information, strategy guides for each game and a digital soundtrack.
