First Look At Tribeca Festival LGBTQIA+ Drama – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: The Canadian drama You Can Live Forever is setting up for its world premiere this weekend at the Tribeca Festival. Here’s the first-look trailer for the Prospector Films pic, which stars Anwen O’Driscoll, June Laporte, Liane Balaban, Deragh Campbell, Tim Campbell, Antoine Yared and Hasani Freeman.

Montreal-based writer-directors Sarah Watts and Mark Slutsky’s debut feature film, in both English and French, is a period drama is set in the early 1990s and follows gay teen Jaime (O’Driscoll), who is sent to live with her devout Jehovah’s Witness relatives after the death of her father. She makes an unexpected connection with Marike (Laporte), daughter of a prominent Witness Elder.

The two begin a secret, unspoken romance, but when their attraction becomes too obvious to hide, the community moves to separate the two, forcing them each to make a terrible choice between faith and love.

Tribeca Festival Preview: Live Music, Activism Highlight 2022 Edition That Runs Gamut From ‘Halftime’ To ‘Rudy!: A Documusical’

Orly Ravid of The Film Collaborative and Bill Straus of Bridge Independent are handling sales at the festival, which kicks off Wednesday. Robert Vroom is producer and John Christou is executive producer.

You Can Live Forever has its world premiere screening Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Village East by Angelika: Theater 6 in the festival’s Viewpoints section.
