Jamie Lee Curtis Will Lobby For One Piece Role After Strike Has Ended

With the SAF-AFTRA strike in place, actors can’t really even lobby for roles they want openly, but some are letting their intentions known of what they want regardless. Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis has made a name for herself in anime and manga circles with her devotion and love for One Piece. With the Netflix live-action adaptation doing well for the streamer, fans have dream cast for the next few seasons with Curtis taking on the role of Dr. Kureha.

Over at her Instagram, Curtis expressed interest but covered herself enough to say she wasn’t officially lobbying for the role, but her plans once the strike ends.

Kureha is an elderly doctor who works on Drum Island and Tony Tony Chopper’s mentor and adoptive mother. She took him under her care after the death of Hiriluk. She is also head of the Isshi-100, a group of the most skilled doctors on Drum Island. She makes her first appearance in the series’ 80th episode and becomes an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Drum Island Arc.

With Season 2 on the way, it could be huge business for the show bringing one more and more big-name celebrities to the cast. One Piece dominated on Netflix with 37.8 million views in less than two weeks since the show’s release. According to Netflix, the series reached the Top 10 in 93 countries and debuted at #1 in 46.

One Piece stars Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Additional cast members include Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala.
