When it comes to underrated Jonas Brothers albums, there is one that stands above the rest and that’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times.
The last album before the band’s breakup, LVATT didn’t get nearly as much love as it deserves and was a very experimental one from the brothers. In particular, the Jonas Brothers experimented with R&B and country styles which we hadn’t heard before.
In particular, it gave us the much-talked-about and beloved duet from Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus called “Before the Storm.” For Niley fans, it’s still one that’s much loved and enjoyed now. On the whole, though, it never seemed to get as much love as their 2007 and 2008 releases.
Lines, Vines and Trying Times was released on June 12, 2009, and ended up producing 2 singles which were “Paranoid” and “Fly With Me.” These are two wildly different singles so let’s get into the rankings.

2. “Fly With Me”
Objectively when I look at Lines, Vines and Trying Times, I do feel like these singles are a bit out of place. There are so many great ones on the album yet it only produced 2. That’s crazy so I had to think about it for a while before putting “Fly With Me” in my number two spot.
While some might disagree, “Fly With Me” is a fun and sweet song yet it doesn’t have the same punch as the others on the album. Regardless, it did end up being in Night of the Museum so that’s something. In addition, it also felt like a love letter from Kevin to Danielle which is just too cute to ignore.
Maybe going back, the Jonas Brothers would do something differently yet it does feel like this was the beginning of the end. Either way, “Fly With Me” is such a cute song and reminds me a lot of first falling in love and being with that special person.
1. “Paranoid”
Moving onto my top single from Lines, Vines and Trying Times, it had to be “Paranoid.” When I think of LVATT, this is the song I always think of. This felt like such a swift departure from their previous albums yet somehow showed a maturity to their previous sound. While this might not have been everyone’s favorite, I don’t think they could have picked a better lead single from this album.
The lyrics even reference the title of the album with lines and vines featured in the song. Maybe I’m just reading too much into the lyrics after everything that’s gone down but it could be related to the band and their feelings at the time. Regardless, this one had to be at the top of my list because it’s such a different song yet such a good one.
Like I said, this one might not be atop everyone’s list of favorite Jonas Brothers songs yet it’s a fun one to sing and dance to.
