Akshay Kumar was going to be replaced by Kartik Aaryan, as per reports.
Last year, it was claimed that Kartik Aaryan was replacing Akshay Kumar in Hera Pheri 3. However, this year, it was confirmed that he will return as Raju.
Akshay Kumar has reportedly decided to forgo his fee for Hera Pheri 3 and signed a profit-sharing deal instead, claimed a new report. Akshay allegedly decided to go with the alternative deal after learning about finances of the producers. It is said that he is confident that the film is a potential blockbuster, hence he decided to sacrifice his fee in exchange of a profit-sharing margin. It is also claimed that he is going with the similar approach with Welcome 3.
A source told Bollywood Hungama that Akshay had also decided to resolve his differences with the makers after he learnt that Kartik Aaryan was replacing him. The source claimed that Akshay was ‘very sad’ after learning about the replacement and allegedly decided to mend things after seeing fans reactions to the possible replacement as well.
“Akshay Kumar was himself very sad when he heard that Kartik Aaryan was replacing him in Hera Pheri 3. He read all the reactions of fans and media people and then decided to sort out all the differences with Firoz Nadiadwala, and thereby return to the franchise. He has done it for all his fans, who wanted to see him as Raju and Rajeev,” the insider claimed.
“Akshay knew that Firoz Nadiadwala isn’t in best of financial condition, however, was very well aware that the basic idea of Welcome 3 and Hera Pheri 3 have potential to emerge as a humongous blockbuster. To start with, he first decided to completely sacrifice his fees, and entered into a profit-sharing model with Firoz Nadiadwala on entire revenue. Firoz wanted to retain the IP, and hence he has complete control over the IP, however, he will be sharing revenue with Akshay in a pre-decided ratio,” the source told the publication. News18 couldn’t verify the claims at the time of reporting.
Previously, Akshay Kumar said that he backed out of Hera Pheri 3 due to creative differences. “The film was offered to me and I was told about it. But the screenplay, script and everything, I was not satisfied, not happy with it. I have to do what people want to see and that is why I backed out, I took a step behind. For me, it’s a part of me, my life, my journey, in a huge way. Mujhe bhi bahut dukh ho raha hai. Main khud bhi bahut dukhi hun iss baat se ki main kar nahi paa raha hun (I am also very upset. I am very upset with teh fact that I won’t be doing it) because I’m not happy with how things have shaped up. That’s why I backed out,” he said at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit last year.
Hera Pheri 3 was announced earlier this year. It was confirmed that Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty are reuniting for the same. A photo of the trio in their Hera Pheri avatar was also shared online.
