Tom Holland Says Zendaya Was His Childhood Celebrity Crush: ‘Easy’

Tom Holland is famously (not to mention adorably) obsessed with his longtime girlfriend, Zendaya, and, according to him, the infatuation began before the two even met. Not in a Savage Garden “I knew I loved you before I met you” kind of way, but in a childhood fandom kind of way.

In a video interview with BuzzFeed, Holland was tasked with answering 30 questions as quickly as he could. Some questions left the actor struggling for a response, but there was one he needed to time at all to answer: “Who was your childhood celeb crush?” Without skipping a beat, Holland replied, “Zendaya. Easy.” Seriously, this man is just too much. Holland would have seen Zendaya on TV when she was a Disney Channel star back in the early 2010s when they were both in their early teens.

Back in 2017, before Holland and Zendaya were even officially dating, he was asked the same question in a interview with PopBuzz and gave the same answer—before clarifying that he was just kidding. “No, my first ever celebrity crush was probably… Jennifer Aniston,” he said at the time. Now, however, I have to wonder if he really was just joking about that.

The celebrity crush question wasn’t the only time Z came up in the six-minute clip with BuzzFeed. When asked about his “rizz” (which is internet parlance for “charisma”), the Spider-Man star joked, “you kind of need to fall in love with me for it to work.” He continued, “Long game, probably making a movie with each other. It definitely helps when the characters you’re playing are falling in love with one another. You can sort of blur the lines a little bit.” And in case it wasn’t already clear he was referring to Zendaya, whom he met on the set of Spider-Man when they played love interests, Holland added, “I’m locked down. I’m happy and in love so I’ve got no need for rizz.”

Okay, so maybe Tom Holland does mean it in a Savage Garden way after all.
