Our favorite gang will return to Cousins Beach with the return of Prime Video’s ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ this July. The show, which was adapted from Jenny Han’s best-selling book trilogy, will cover material from book two, ‘It’s Not Summer Without You,’ and will reunite our favorite trio Belly (Lola Tung), Conrad (Christopher Briney), and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). In book two, fans see a bit of Belly and Conrad together with Jeremiah waiting in the wings. So will Belly finally choose between the two brothers?
Although it’s been reported that some changes deviated from the book, Prime Video decided to tease fans with a slew of photos giving them a first look into what we have in store for the 8-episode series set to return starting on July 14.
First Look Images (click to enlarge):
The photos largely showcase Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah — with Conrad and Jeremiah continuing to go toe-to-toe for Belly’s affection. Looking at the new photos one can assume there is a lot of drama to come. One photo has both brothers standing with towels and bathing suits looking like they are upset at someone. Others are solo shots of the group with one showing Conrad smoking and Belly looking upset standing alone. There are glimpses of Belly and Conrad, who are officially a couple in the new season, together. One of which they are at a dance and another with Conrad putting something on Belly’s neck (most likely the infinity necklace). We also get our first look at Belly’s brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) who looks very upset as he is stuck in the back of the car as he looks at what looks like Belly’s friend from Season one.
Prime Video also released its latest synopsis for the season stating; Belly used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach, but with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah’s cancer, she’s not sure summer will ever be the same. When an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah’s beloved house, Belly has to rally the gang to come together—and to decide once and for all where her heart lies.
