Sega has announced the Sonic Symphony world tour concert series

Sega has announced the Sonic Symphony world tour concert series.

Celebrating over 30 years of Sonic music, the tour will kick off later this year with concerts at the Barbican Hall in London on September 16 and the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on September 30.

Music will be performed live by a full symphony orchestra and rock band, to the backdrop of iconic moments from the series being played on the big screen.

“Sonic Symphony is an immersive live experience that celebrates more than three decades of music from Sega’s iconic mascot,” according to the tour’s website.

“From the classic 8-bit and 16-bit tunes to rock and EDM songs, this concert will take you on a musical journey through the colorful world of Sonic the Hedgehog.”

Fans can register to receive updates about when Sonic Symphony is coming to a nearby location and to receive early access to ticket sales.

Sega streamed a well received 90-minute Sonic the Hedgehog concert for free in June 2021 to celebrate the mascot’s 30th birthday.

During a recent earnings presentation, Sega said it’s interested in the possibility of adapting other IPs for the big screen, following the success of the Sonic movies.

The company also indicated that it could be the next publisher to start charging $70 for some of its games.
