Following reports about being one of the frontrunners for Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy, Rachel Brosnahan opens up on the new casting reports for the iconic DC Comics journalist. Over the weekend, several frontrunners emerged for Superman: Legacy, including Lois and Clark, with Brosnahan as one of the candidates for the female lead. In an interview with The View, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star was asked about the reports about her supposedly being up for Lois in Superman: Legacy. While Brosnahan didn’t flat-out deny the reports, she stressed that people should take what they read online with “a grain of salt.” However, she also expressed interest in playing Lois if she was given a chance, stating the following:

I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice. Look, it would be extraordinary; I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, [who is] far from a damsel in distress and I would jump at the chance if it arose.

Who Will Be Cast As Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy?

In the original report, Brosnahan was one out of four actresses who were rumored to have tested for Lois, joining Emma Mackey, Phoebe Dynevor, and Samara Weaving. At the time of this story’s publication, none of the other actors have commented on whether or not their involvement with Superman: Legacy is accurate or not. According to trades, Brosnahan was described as having delivered an “outstanding” audition as Lois.

However, if these are the type of actresses they are looking for when it comes to casting Lois in Superman: Legacy, it reveals a number of things. For starters, they are definitely looking to find talent who are already established, likely with a lot of critical work in their acting credits. While Lois is traditionally a few years older than Superman in some live-action versions, it appears the DC Universe reboot may have the iconic duo around the same age in this iteration.

Since Superman: Legacy isn’t expected to start filming until January 2024, Gunn and his team have plenty of time to go through auditions as these are some major roles they have to nail for the DC Universe. It wouldn’t be shocking if the first star that gets cast and announced sometime soon is the Man of Steel himself, perhaps a moment Gunn is saving until this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. But for now, time will tell who will land some of these iconic DC Comics roles in Superman: Legacy.
