DC Studios Still Has Two Secret Projects Left to Announce

The first month of the year ended with a big announcement from DC Studios. The Warner Discovery division, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, is already developing its 10-year plan to integrate all the comic company’s projects in film, television, and even video games to follow the same timeline.

However, the announced titles are only a brief part of what will come in the next couple of years. Much remains to be revealed, related to the expected casting of iconic characters like Batman or Superman and new projects that will surely surprise the audience.

In fact, it seems two projects have been kept under wraps, and one of them is a favorite of Gunn’s, as he recently confessed in a chat with /Film:

“There’s one thing I know is my favorite, one of my favorite projects of all of this. And it’s just so totally unique that the idea itself is giving away too much when it may not come out for two or three years. Also, with some other things, it’s kind of a choice. We have a director working on a really fantastic other project that may take him a little more time than some other people.”

These two projects could be focused on already known characters, as well as heroes or groups that have rarely been seen, considering that in the future, we will see an animated series of Creatures Commandos and a movie centered on The Authority, which was considerably unknown to most of the fans.

The Next Steps for DC Studios

Warner Bros.

Although Gunn and Safran’s plan will not officially start until 2024, the company still plans to release four major titles in 2023. The first one will be Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is still unclear as to whether or not it will be Zachary Levi’s last appearance as The World’s Mightiest Mortal.

In July, the universe will be rebooted with The Flash, which by adapting Flashpoint, will allow the new leadership to make critical, creative decisions without having to start entirely from scratch. Ezra Miller’s future as Barry Allen is also uncertain.

In August, Xolo Mariduena will become Jaime Reyes in Blue Beetle, which, being a new story, will have no problem integrating into the future DCU. The conflict will be Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, who will premiere his second film in December. Although his story was intended as a trilogy, it will depend on the film’s performance and the company’s plans whether they will continue with the actor in that mythical character.
