After the release of her debut album, the Taylor Swift hype train began. After such a country yet pop-infused album, people were curious what the teenage Pennsylvanian could do.
For fans around Swift’s age, they were waiting for songs that were once again intensely relatable, and with the release of Fearless in 2008, a lot of them got what they had been craving. As her sophomore effort, the album was truly unmatched and began an era of Taylor Swift love and admiration we’re all still feeling.
Upon its release in 2008, Fearless immediately became a smash hit and within the next year, became the best-selling country album. The album featured 13 tracks which is a number we’ve all come to associate with Swift. It even spawned a “Platinum Edition” and eventually, a re-release from Swift in 2021.
All in all, Swift’s second album was a banger. That’s why it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the album ended up having 5 singles and even, three upon re-release which were “Love Story,” “White Horse,” “You Belong With Me,” “Fifteen,” and “Fearless.” The three re-recording singles were “Love Story (Taylor’s Version,) “You All Over Me” and “Mr. Perfectly Fine.”
While these lists are intended to focus on the original release of the album’s singles, we’re obviously going to be featuring “Taylor’s Version” when it’s available. Right now, it’s just for Fearless and Red, but let’s cross our fingers for more. With that being said, we have 7 singles to rank this time so let’s not waste any time and dive into the second era of Taylor Swift’s career.
7. “Fifteen”
Maybe I’m just a hater, but I’ve never really loved this song. Even though Taylor Swift is one of my favorite artists, this song just never felt like single material to me. If anything, it seemed like an entirely personal song. While it wasn’t unrelatable at the time of release, it doesn’t seem to have the same staying power as her other singles.
As I said though, this one might just be a “me problem,” but I didn’t ever love this one as much as other Taylor fans have. Despite the fact that I was 15 years old when the song first came out, I must say it was never a song I loved or found myself listening to over and over again like others on the album.
