Grant Gustin Breaks Silence On The Flash Movie Cameo Rumors

The Flash star Grant Gustin addresses rumors of him having a cameo in The Flash movie. As The Flash TV show is getting ready to end, a different Scarlet Speedster’s adventure is continuing on the big screen. This summer, Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie is officially hitting theaters, only weeks after The CW drama ends. The DCEU film will serve as a reset for the new DC Universe.

In a TVLine interview, the Arrowverse was asked directly about the rumors claiming he’ll have an appearance in The Flash. Over the last two years, there have been reports suggesting Gustin is in The Flash movie. However, the Arrowverse star said he is not in The Flash movie, sharing the following:

No! [laughs] Yeah, there have been a lot of rumors out there for a long time. No one has come out directly and asked me, like ever on the record. People ask me on the street all the time, and yeah, I’m not keeping some big elaborate secret.

How Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen Could Appear In The Flash Movie

Despite his denial, Gustin could be pulling an Andrew Garfield during the Spider-Man: No Way Home press tour. Even if Gustin is in The Flash movie, he would not be allowed to say admit it due to the secrecy surrounding superhero movies. But if Gustin were somehow to be in The Flash, there are several ways his Barry Allen could show up. The Flash is tackling the multiverse, as evidenced by Micheal Keaton’s Batman.

Even if Gustin didn’t film new scenes for The Flash, there is no reason archived footage of Gustin’s Flash couldn’t be included. In a montage from The Flash season 2, when traveling to Earth-2, viewers saw various Earths in the multiverse. They served as homages to past and present DC media, which included Supergirl. Beyond that minor kind of reference, there is precedent for Gustin and Miller to share the screen together as The Flash.

During Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, Miller became the first DCEU actor to enter the DC TV franchise. It was during this moment that Gustin’s Flash essentially named Miller’s version of the character. So a cameo in The Flash movie would be a nice continuation of that moment. Whether The Flash movie addresses their first encounter in the Arrowverse crossover, or includes any other reference to Gustin’s Barry Allen, remains to be seen.
