The trailer for Unicorn Warrior Eternal unveils a striking new animated series from Samurai Jack and Primal creator Genndy Tartakovsky.
A trailer has dropped for Genndy Tartakovsky’s new animated series Unicorn Warriors Eternal, featuring a striking animation style. Tartakovsky is best known for creating animated action series like Samurai Jack and Primal, as well as directing the first three films in the Hotel Transylvania series. Unicorn Warriors Eternal was greenlit in 2020, with footage of the series premiering exclusively at Annecy Festival in June 2022.
Now, Adult Swim has released an official trailer for Unicorn Warriors Eternal, showing off a striking animation style alongside a story about resurrection and ancient evils.
The animation in the trailer is reminiscent of Tartakovsky’s Primal, which had a similar art style to Unicorn Warriors Eternal. The trailer also features a release date at the end, revealing the series will premiere on May 4 at midnight.

The new trailer for Unicorn Warriors Eternal features many instances of action-adventure elements, as well as supernatural characters and powers mixed with a Victorian-inspired setting. These types of ideas are fitting for a work by Tartakovsky, who previously introduced Vikings to Primal‘s prehistoric setting. Because of how much supernatural ideas and general action is featured in the trailer, it seems Unicorn Warriors Eternal will have plenty of excitement throughout its story.
This appears to be slightly different from the show’s original descriptions when it was first greenlit. While the trailer retains the idea of ancient heroes being resurrected to defeat evil, original descriptions for the series billed it as having comedic elements as the characters navigate through teenage issues while trying to piece together fragmented memories. These teenage elements appear to be absent in the official trailer, but it’s still possible the series will explore this part of its description more thoroughly once it premieres.
Unicorn Warriors Eternal also underscores how Tartakovsky is dedicated to creating stories that are both exciting and unique experiences audiences haven’t seen before. His dedication to his craft is backed up by his history in animation, with Adult Swim previously giving him a chance to give Samurai Jack a definitive ending with season 5. If the trailer is anything to go by, then it seems Unicorn Warriors Eternal will be able to live up to the same greatness as the previous Tartakovsky series.
