Hollywood transformed into Wakanda at the world premiere of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” from Marvel Studios. It was a celebration as the film honored Chadwick Boseman’s legacy, and brought forward an Oscar-worthy performance from Angela Bassett. The SCAD Savannah Film Festival had plenty of buzz with big names descending onto the festival such as Miles Teller (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and Janelle Monáe (“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”). In addition, the directors of some of the season’s top animated films were in attendance for the first “Sketch to Screen” panel which included Kyle Balda (“Minions: The Rise of Gru”), Joel Crawford (“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”), Dean Fleischer-Camp (“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”), Henry Selick (“Wendell and Wild”), Domee Shi (“Turning Red”) and Masaaki Yuasa (“Inu-oh”).
Finally, the opening statements in Harvey Weinstein’s trial in Los Angeles kicked off with troublesome rhetoric from the defense team calling Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California governor Gavin Newsom, a “bimbo.” With the trial continuing for the next two months, how will this affect the release of Universal Pictures’ “She Said,” which tells the story of the two journalists that exposed his decades-long reign of abuse?
