“It’s an epic failure for Elrond, because what he wants so much is to bring the two peoples together, bring this relationship together, and work on something together,” says The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s Robert Aramavo of the dramatic parting that occurs between the elf emissary and the dwarf crown prince in the penultimate episode of the first season of Amazon’s Prime Video’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s writing.
“And when I am ejected, and failed, it is devastating for him,” the actor adds in certain understatement as co-star Owain Arthur looks on.
The duo were speaking of the events of Rings of Power’s “The Eye” episode on Deadline’s Inside the Ring, the Rings of Power after show – as you can see in the video above.
Heading towards next week’s fiery Season 1 finale, the Charlotte Brandstrom helmed “The Eye,” which was written by Jason Cahill, is full of reckonings and a salient awakenings on many different levels for Tolkien fans old and new.
The triumph of Adar and the Orcs in what they are now calling Mordor sees warriors fall and families torn apart, both on the battlefields of what was once the Southland, and in the caverns of the Dwarf kingdom of Kazad-Dum. At the same time, in a frantic effort to save the Elves, crown prince Durin (Arthur) and his old friend Elrond search for more deposits of the fabled mithril, only to be shut down by an enraged Dwarf King (Peter Mullan)
Back in the ash sky filled former Southlands, the Numenorian Queen Regent (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) suffers a blinding blow, a father faces the imaginable and an elf warrior and a human boy forge a bond in their fight against evil.
With Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur (stay for more hijinks at the end between the two) Cynthia Addai-Robinson and director Brandstrom we are also joined in today’s Inside the Ring by Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Charlie Vickers (Halbrand), Tyroe Muhafidin (Theo), Maxim Baldry (Isildur), and Trystan Gravelle (Pharazon). Back again too is always dynamic composer Bear McCreary – as you can see in the video above.
Set to run for at least five seasons, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is led by showrunners and EPs Payne & McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado, and producers Ron Ames and Christopher Newman. Wayne Che Yip is co-EP and directs several episodes along with J.A. Bayona and Charlotte Brändström
