Over the last 17 years, some of Hollywood’s biggest names have joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In fact, joining the MCU has become something of a rite of passage for Tinseltown stars. From longtime MCU veterans like Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Pratt to later additions like Christian Bale, Angelina Jolie, and Harrison Ford, the Marvel universe has continued to expand.

However, one name you might not associate with the MCU is Jenna Ortega.

Before rising to fame with roles in Stuck in the Middle, Wednesday, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Ortega appeared in a small role in Iron Man 3. If you blinked, though, you might have missed her.
Ortega Revealed the Cameo Last Year
Last year, Entertainment Tonight asked Ortega if she was interested in joining the MCU.
It was then that the actress revealed her Iron Man 3 cameo.

“I did it once,” Ortega replied. “It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in ‘Iron Man 3’ for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg and I’m the vice president’s daughter.”
“I Was So Happy to Be in a Movie”
As part of a recent interview to promote Klara and the Sun, Ortega and director Taika Waititi sat down with Entertainment Weekly.

Once again, Ortega’s brief Marvel career came up.
Although the actress only had a brief cameo in Iron Man 3, she still remembers the experience fondly.

“I was so happy to be in a movie, I had been begging my mom for years [before] she finally let me start auditioning,” Ortega recalled. “It was one of the first things I ever went out for. Booked it, was thrilled.”
Portraying the vice president’s granddaughter, who was missing a leg, Ortega spent her big day of shooting in a wheelchair.

“I was sat in the wheelchair all day and I was so excited to be there,” Ortega said of her day on set. “They had me sit on my leg, because my character was missing a leg in the film.”
Ortega Almost Fell on Her Face
Eventually, her enthusiasm for the role led to some unintended consequences.

“I didn’t want to move because, again, I was so happy to be an actor and to be a character that I just kinda stayed in the wheelchair all day,” Ortega shared. “And when I went home, I was limping to the car,” she continued.
“You know when your leg falls asleep and it’s that weird feeling? I almost fell on my face getting out of the wheelchair.”
Luckily, the incident did not discourage Ortega from pursuing a career in acting.
