Rebecca Ferguson’s Near-Perfect Sci-Fi Thriller Is Officially a 600-Day Streaming Smash Hit

While it was the Mission: Impossible franchise that put Rebecca Ferguson on everyone’s radar, it was her appearance as Rose the Hat in Doctor Sleep that cemented her as a superstar. It led to movies like Dune, Netflix’s A House of Dynamite, and (for better or worse) Prime Video’s Mercy alongside Chris Pratt. It also helped score her a starring role in one of the best sci-fi thrillers in recent memory, which has just crossed 600 days as a streaming smash hit.

Is Freedom Worth Sacrificing for Safety?

Released in 2023, Silo stars Ferguson as Juliette Nichols, who is just one of 10,000 people living inside an enormous underground structure. Based on the bestselling trilogy of novels by Hugh Howey, the post-apocalyptic series was an immediate hit when it landed on Apple TV three years ago, and it hasn’t lost any of its momentum.

Per Flix Patrol, Silo has been trending in Apple TV’s Top 10 charts for more than 600 days now, solidifying it as a streaming sensation. It currently sits at #3 globally, and at #5 in the United States.

Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Tim Robbins, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common, and Harriet Walter, Silo blends conspiracy theories, political intrigue, and mystery to deliver a near-perfect sci-fi series. It currently holds an overall rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the latest season, Season 3, the best of the bunch at 96%.

Created by Graham Yost (Justified), Silo isn’t just a great sci-fi thriller, though. It’s one of those shows that poses some big questions about humanity. Perhaps the biggest of them all (and the one that’s timelier than ever) has to be, “Is freedom worth sacrificing for safety?” Sure, the underground silo offers protection from a supposedly uninhabitable world, but the strict laws, surveillance and severe punishments dished out by the Judicial Department make you wonder if it’s all worth it. Clearly, some of the show’s characters think not, which is a good thing because it wouldn’t be nearly as impactful if they did.

‘Silo’ Concludes Its Epic Run Next Year

Unlike other sci-fi shows that were canceled way too soon, such as Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (a vastly underrated gem), and Almost Human, Silo is the rare outlier that will be allowed to come to a satisfying conclusion. At least, we hope it’s a satisfying conclusion.

Apple renewed the series for a fourth and final season in December 2024, and announced in September 2026 that it will premiere on July 9, 2027. They even offered a sneak peek by releasing a teaser (seen above) that promises the finale will be one heck of an epic close to what is arguably one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever made.

Before we get to the grand finale of Silo, however, Ferguson will appear next in the third and final movie in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy. She’ll reprise her role as Lady Jessica in the grandiose saga, which adapts Frank Herbert’s iconic 1965 novel. Look for it to open nationwide on Dec. 18, 2026, and catch the first three seasons of Silo streaming now on Apple TV.
