After the successful re-release of Avengers: Endgame last weekend, Sony is getting ready to bring another beloved film back to theaters.
According to a new report from Deadline, plans are already in the works for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to get a re-release.

Another Re-Release
While it may seem strange for Marvel and Sony to dip back into the Spider-Man well so quickly, last weekend’s release of Avengers: Endgame Encore showed that there is an audience for extended cuts of MCU films.

Avengers: Endgame Encore grossed $86 million during its first weekend back in theaters, bringing the film’s global cume to $2.885 billion.
For its part, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is one of the few films that can match Endgame in popularity.

Hitting theaters last July, the film grossed an astounding $950.6 million domestically and $1.545 billion overseas for a global cume of $2.496 billion.

As things stand, Brand New Day is the highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office and the third highest globally.
Additional Footage Will Be Included
Like Avengers: Endgame Encore, Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s re-release will include additional footage that was cut from the film.

Most notably, Rosario Dawson’s return as Claire Temple is expected to be restored to the film.
Dawson portrayed Temple, a nurse who allies herself with the Defenders, in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.

The actress has been open about the fact that she filmed a scene for Brand New Day before it was cut.
Based on what we know, Punisher brought Peter to Temple after shooting him.

This would explain how Peter got medical help in the hospital without anyone discovering his identity.
Other new footage is also expected to be included in the re-release.
When Will ‘Brand New Day’ Return?
At this time, it is unclear when Brand New Day will make its return to theaters.

Previously, Sony re-released Spider-Man: No Way Home on Labor Day.
