Instagram has censored a post by UK actress Florence Pugh calling out the Cornell College alleged rape case.
In the censored post, Pugh says that after reading about the young woman who was “gang raped” at her college by her friend and school peers, she was feeling uneasy, sick and anxious.
“I’m processing quietly and watching everything and everyone and every man. I have a few thoughts on this horrific act that happened at Cornell College in 2024,” the award-winning English actress shared.
Pugh, who debuted in the drama film, The Falling in 2014, said she knows incidents like the rape had happened before and hated the idea of it happening again.
“This is really the moment where we need our men to be as horrified and as sickened as us.
“You need to be leading conversations about how we change the allowance and complicity of this behaviour as much as we are. How can you expect us to trust that it’s ‘not all men’ when in moments like this, many of your stay quiet,” she questioned.
In 2024, a student claimed that she was drugged with ketamine, assaulted and raped in 2024 by seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity, a social club for male students.
According to the AFP, the matter was reopened by United States prosecutors after allegations that the men involved were not properly punished.
The 101-page civil lawsuit filed in New York gives graphic details on the alleged assault of the woman, whose identity is being protected, the AFP noted.
The suit is seeking financial damages from the elite university and the seven men.
