Ana De Armas Dons Wonder Woman Suit To Join James Gunn’s DC Universe In New DCU Art After Superman Sequel Rumors

Ana de Armas becomes Wonder Woman for the DC Universe in new art.

Several names have been rumored for the role of Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DCU. More recently, the rumor mill heated up, as one of the fans’ top choices for the role, Andor‘s Adria Arjona, was cast in the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow in a mystery role. Some believe she is playing Wonder Woman, while reports claim Arjona will give life to the alien Maxima in the upcoming DC movie. While there is no confirmation, DC fans continue to submit their picks for who should become DC’s new Diana Prince, and it is de Armas’ turn in exciting DCU fan art.

On DeviantArt, user Crishark imagined what Ana de Armas could look like as the DCU’s Wonder woman amid the Man of Tomorrow rumors.

The new DC fan art sees the popular actress don a modern Wonder Woman suit that mixes the classic armored look from Gal Gadot’s version of the character in the old DCEU movie franchise with a black leather jacket filled with gold stars and black pants, rather than Wonder Woman’s usual skirt. A Wonder Woman themed choker also adds a new element to the DC hero’s design.

At the time of writing, the latest update on DC’s new Wonder Woman movie was that DC Comics writer Tom King, who is one of the creators of HBO’s Lanterns and is the current writer of DC’s ongoing Wonder Woman comic series, was not involved with the movie. The DCU Wonder Woman reboot is being penned by Supergirl scribe Ana Nogueira, with no release date, story details, or casting updates revealed so far. That said, after Supergirl bombed at the box office, and with DC fans asking for major characters like Wonder Woman and Batman to finally debut, it could be fast-tracked.

Right now, all eyes are on whether Arjona could be playing Wonder Woman in Gunn’s Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, rather than if other popular actresses like de Armas are in the running. Given how the Star Wars fan-favorite has told fans in the past to let Gunn know she should play Wonder Woman, the fact that Arjona has been cast in a DCU movie directed by the franchise’s creative chief is interesting. Adding to that, Wonder Woman would make sense among characters like John Stewart, Mister Terrific, Supergirl, Superman, and more in the fight against Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow.

Still, if the reports about Arjona’s secret role being Maxima, not Wonder Woman, are true, then de Armas could still have a shot at the character. At 38, she is just five years older than Superman actor David Corenswet, which the DCU could certainly work with. Additionally, not only does she look perfect in the Wonder Woman suit in the new DC fan art, but de Armas has plenty of experience in action movies, some of which include Ghosted, Ballerina, No Time to Die, and The Gray Man, to be believable as the mighty warrior that is DC’s Wonder Woman.
