Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Sequel Officially Announced as Original Creative Director Returns

Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, announced today that it’s officially developing a sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers after acquiring the IP earlier this year. The sequel is being led by the original creative director, Xia Siyuan, at his new development studio.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Sequel Confirmed

In an official press release, Digital Bros confirmed that a sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is now in active development in partnership with Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology Co. Ltd., the studio founded by Xia Siyuan, the original creative director and project lead of the first game that launched in 2025.

505 Games will serve as the exclusive worldwide publisher, while Digital Bros is making an initial investment of €21.5 million into the sequel’s development. The company also reiterated that it fully owns the Wuchang intellectual property following its acquisition of the IP rights on April 27, 2026.

Additionally, Digital Bros revealed that the original Wuchang: Fallen Feathers generated more than €30 million in revenue within eight months of its July 2025 launch, which it cited as a key reason for investing further in the franchise.

The announcement also appears to confirm earlier reports that Xia Siyuan left Leenzee before the Lunar New Year, with the sequel now being developed at his newly founded studio. No launch platforms, release window, or gameplay details were announced alongside the press release confirming the sequel.

While it didn’t reach the highs of many other soulslikes, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers had a lot going for it, especially in its level design. The earlier sections of the game are packed with hidden paths, interconnected areas, and side quests that reminded me of the original Dark Souls. It’s exactly the kind of game where a sequel has the potential to address the original’s shortcomings and deliver an even better experience. I don’t expect it to stray far from its soulslike roots, but I’m excited to see how it builds on the original’s foundation.
