‘A Place in Hell’: Michelle Williams, Daisy Edgar-Jones Movie Heads to Spring

EXCLUSIVE: Neon is taking the Chloe Domont directed adult thriller A Place in Hell and moving it from a Christmas Day release to April 23, 2027.

We’re hearing that this office knives drama about a successful cutthroat criminal defense attorney (played by 5x Oscar nominee Michelle Williams) who has her ambitions upended by a younger lawyer who is brought in to replace her (Daisy Edgar-Jones) has serious commercial potential after encouraging test screenings. There’s been a great response to Jones and Williams fierce turns. Andrew Scott also stars. This timing also allows for a coordinated global launch between NEON and Universal in April.

Spring has been great for such sophisticated female driven fare as Challengers ($15M U.S. opening), The Drama ($14.3M opening) and Reminders of Him ($17.9M debut).

April 23 is also a hot pre-summer launchpad, where Michael also blasted off. Already on the date is Amazon MGM Studios’ Spaceballs: The New One, which A Place in Hell will serve as great counter programming to, as well as Warner Bros. untitled F.A.S.T. movie. Neon already had this weekend on hold for an untitled theatrical release.

Domont’s feature directorial debut, Fair Play, sold to Netflix out of Sundance 2023 for a massive $20M.

Neon co-financed the film with MRC and Republic Pictures, with T-Street producing.
