Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 opens with an episode following the crew of the starship Enterprise as they visit a planet that’s extremely cowboy-coded, get flung back in time through a major cosmic event, and discover themselves in a prehistoric solar system lorded over by super-powered Martians and good old-fashioned dinosaurs. (In fact, one of the show’s main heroines gets to punch a dino!) If that sounds nonsensical to you, that’s rather the point. Strange New Worlds is the Star Trek show that fully embraces the wholesome, sincere optimism of the original Star Trek. Set in the run-up to that O.G. series, we get to hang out with the likes of Spock (Ethan Peck), Kirk (Paul Wesley), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), and Scotty (Martin Quinn) before they were key members of that iconic crew. Instead? They’re just bright young Starfleet officers enjoying adventure-of-the-week missions, soap opera-esque love stories, and bonkers concept episodes. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will never not be fun.
